Talking about grief can be hard
but it doesn’t have to be.

When my mom died, I realized that grief can be hard af.

We all worry about what to say, how to say it, and when to say it. We can feel overwhelmed in our own grief, as well as overwhelmed by the grief of others.

In the months after my mom died, I went online to figure out how to answer the (many) questions I had as a person who was grieving, as well as a person supporting fam and friends through their loss.

I didn’t connect with lots of the resources out there - I didn’t want rainbows and doves and promises of everything being ok, because it definitely didn’t feel like it was going to be. So I created my corner of the internet for a different approach to grief.

TESTIMONIALS

Alica's writing feels like she jumps into my grieving mind, synthesizes all my jumbled thoughts, and then turns them beautifully into words. My dad died one month before Alica lost her mom. For the past year and a half, her writing has been a safe haven for me in understanding my own grief, and especially in knowing I'm not alone.

Alica is a professional and relatable facilitator who draws you in with her storytelling. She’s thoughtful, honest, candid, and leads from the heart. When facilitating, Alica powerfully and delicately holds space for others while navigating difficult topics such as grief. She is well versed in grief work and in my opinion, is a leader in bringing the conversation of grief to the forefront.

If I were to sum up working with Alica and being in her presence I’d boil it down to one word: integrity. You can count on Alica and her word and actions are gold.

Alica was an exceptional and integral addition to our Grace Club speaker lineup. She held space for our community to be in process around their grief and modelled how we can individually and collectively approach the messiness of life. She speaks with a warm, inviting, and no-nonsense style and inspires others to show up unapologetically and authentically.

During her talk, we watched our audience relate and respond to Alica with empathy and ease, and were delighted to receive positive feedback from our members in the following days.  We firmly believe that Alica sharing her perspective and expertise is beneficial for all audiences, and that she brings a valuable set of skills to any panel/discussion.
